    Catskill man sentenced to 84 months in prison

    ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The United States Department of Justice announced that Atniel Pagan, 24, of Catskill, was sentenced to 84 months in prison on Tuesday. The sentencing followed a guilty plea to possessing and intending to distribute a controlled substance as well as possessing firearms.

    When pleading guilty, Pagan admitted to allegedly possessing 225 grams of cocaine and 22 grams of cocaine base that he intended to sell out of an apartment in Albany. Pagan also admitted to allegedly possessing a loaded semi-automatic AR-style rifle and a loaded semi-automatic pistol that were both privately manufactured.

    These guns were allegedly used to guard the potential theft of the drugs. He was arrested at his apartment following the execution of a state arrest warrant by the Deputy United States Marshals.

    Along with the 84 months served in prison, Pagan was ordered to forfeit the guns and $738 that were reportedly seized from his apartment. He will also pay a $5,000 fine and serve four years of probation following his release from prison.
