Pa. aviary says good-bye ‘with deepest sorrows’ to Stanley, its first penguin
After 23 years, a western Pennsylvania aviary has had to say goodbye to the first penguin it acquired. Stanley, an African penguin who lived at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, was put down by veterinary staff after suffering for 18 months with what the aviary called “age-related spine and joint issues.”

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (KDKA) -- The eaglet in the nest at U.S. Steel's Irvin Plant has a name. The naming contest, a fundraiser for the Tamarack Wildlife Center, brought in $7,000. For a minimum $5 donation, voters could choose from one of six names.
