Starting with food: Joplin State Farm agent, Karen Rutledge said unless your home was damaged in some way by a storm – any spoiled food, caused by power outages, is not covered. However, you could see coverage, depending on the size of your deductible.

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Crews with Carthage Water and Electric as well as Paschal Air, Plumbing and Electric say as power is restored, there are some things you’ll want to do. The most recommended tip is checking your HVAC system; making sure its connected and turned on are the first signs to check for to know its back on.

Abi Almandinger from the Carthage Parks and Rec Department came by to get you all hyped up for the summer! This week has been rough for them, as Carthage has taken some severe weather recently and has lost many trees across their local parks. Additionally, they’re getting ready for Memorial Day to kick off the summer! There’s currently two pools, one at Municipal Park and a kiddy pool at Central Park being prepped and cleaned for the season. It only cost $3 to get in and they will be open Monday through Saturday 12-6 and Sunday 1-6. The Kiddy Pool is Monday and Friday 12-4. There will also be an advanced Sushi class this Saturday, but it is already full. There will be another one coming in June so be on the look out for details! JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin school administrators said a malfunction caused a delay in opening one of its safe rooms during Monday night’s storms. Around nine o’clock Monday night, school administrators sent out reminders about the safe rooms saying they would open when a tornado warning was issued or the tornado sirens sounded.

DUQUESNE, Mo.- During a recent storm that swept through Jasper County, more than 17,000 Liberty Utilities customers found themselves without power, causing significant disruptions that extended into local businesses. The storm, which caused outages across the region, left some still without power as of Wednesday afternoon, according to updates from Liberty Utilities' outage map.
