Carthage City Council regular scheduled meeting, April 23, 2024

CARTHAGE, Mo. (KOAM) — The Carthage City Council meet for regular scheduled meeting Wednesday, April 23.

On the agenda regarding new business, continuing the latest thread of no confidence declarations and votes between the City Council, City Employees and the Mayor and City Administrator.

After a meeting two weeks ago the Carthage City Attorney and the Assistant both announced their exit. Neither have been replaced yet.

Also two weeks ago the City Council voted to remove the City Administrator and the Mayor. Neither of those changes occurred. In private session they determined to hire attorneys to walk them through the processes.

1. Discuss law firm options for opinion on City Administrator removal
2. Discuss special counsel options for City Attorney assistance

NEW BUSINESS

1. C.B. 24-24 - An Emergency Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with Paul Martin of Paul Martin Law of St. Louis Missouri in the amount of $250.00 per hour to handle impeachment of the Mayor of the City of Carthage, in the city of Carthage, Missouri.
