State agency approves loan for tribal cannabis facility over board's recommendation
The Minnesota Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation is moving ahead with a $2.5 million loan to the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to help build a start-up cannabis business on tribal land west of Duluth. The decision comes despite an advisory board’s vote recommending against it.

PROCTOR, Minn. — For over 100 years the Proctor community has hosted a Memorial Day observance and program. On Monday the ceremony included 60 military members that were honored for their service. DULUTH, Minn. - Downtown Duluth is looking for a helping hand next week. On June 5-6, they’ll be receiving flowers for streetscape planters. Volunteers interested in helping get those flowers planted can help out on either or both days. Wednesday’s dropoff will be at the Northwest Iron Parking lot at 10 a.m. and Thursday’s meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the corner of 5th Avenue West and Superior Street. With enough volunteers they expect it will only take about an hour. Volunteers are asked to bring tools and gloves if able.
