Driving distance from Carlsbad to Odessa, Texas along with continued growth and development in Eddy County’s fossil fuel industry led Air Compressor Solutions to open a location in Carlsbad, said the company’s president and owner.

Brian Stubbs said Air Compressor Solutions (ACS) was serving Carlsbad for several years from the company’s main location in Odessa.

“We have witnessed the continuous growth of the Carlsbad region and the expansion of our customer base,” he said.

Carlsbad is 141 miles from Odessa and Stubbs said ACS deliberated for more than a year on how to enhance and expedite delivery to customers in Carlsbad.

Founded in 1984, ACS also has locations in Albuquerque and Amarillo and El Paso, read a press release from the company.

Carlsbad marks ACS’ second location in New Mexico.

The press release noted ACS has a diverse company base in New Mexico and Texas ranging from oil and gas to construction.

Fossil fuel work and development not slowing down in Carlsbad

ACS had a ribbon cutting and open house April 17 at 711 Del Rio, south of Carlsbad, said Austin Wade, Carlsbad service manager.

The opening appears to be in step with Eddy County’s unemployment figures for the first three months of 2024, read data from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS).

The county’s unemployment rate was below 3%, the second lowest in New Mexico behind Los Alamos, according to NMDWS.

The mining industry, which includes fossil fuel work, was Eddy County’s leading employer in March with 5,900 people employed, read NMDWS figures.

Across New Mexico, the mining and construction industry grew 2.8% in March. Construction grew by 1,700 jobs and mining was up by 400 jobs, according to NMDWS.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasted oil production in the Permian Basin to be above 6,100 barrels per day for the rest of May and all of June.

The East Daley Analytics website forecasts crude oil production in the Permian Basin to increase 6.5% in 2024.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) Sweet Crude Oil prices fluctuated January through April from $70 a barrel in January to nearly $87 a barrel in April, according to the EIA.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) website stated WTI Sweet Crude Oil is the world’s most liquid oil contract.

    What does ACS offer?

Air compressors, portable generators and light towers from Ingersoll-Rand, Doosan,Atlas Copco and Bobcat equipment and sales.

Ian Drugmand, Bobcat spokesperson, said dealer relationships are a strategic focus area for the company.

“At Bobcat, our market segments are growing, and we’re matching those opportunities with new products and services that help dealers maximize their business. It’s an exciting time to be a Bobcat dealer and a great time to consider becoming one,” he said.

Drugmand said Bobcat’s channel development strategy was based on creating partnerships with businesses that would better support customers in specific territories like Carlsbad and Eddy County.

“We don't focus our attention on one type of dealership specifically, but partner with any type of dealership that meets the criteria we believe is required for a successful partnership,” he said.

Drugmand said Bobcat works with individual dealers on market and product lines that would work in a specific area like Carlsbad.
