Ovid-Elsie lost against New Lothrop last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ovid-Elsie Marauders fell just short of the New Lothrop Hornets by a score of 5-3. Ovid-Elsie has struggled against New Lothrop recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Saginaw-area sports highlights: Breckenridge boys golf earns conference three-peat
Breckenridge earned the three-peat, dominating the Mid-State Activities Conference boys golf all-league team after claiming its third consecutive league title. Zane Schmitz led the Huskies with a 79 at the conference meet at Emerald in St. Johns, and he was joined on the all-conference first team by Huskies Jaxon Laubscher, Blaze Snyder and Noah Barr. Freshmen Dylan Davenport and Derek Becker earned honorable mention.
Diamond Classic Day 2 Highlights
EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Two more games are in the books of the 62nd Dean Shippey Diamond Classic from Michigan State’s McLane Stadium. In Game 1, 29-time champion Grand Ledge overcame a four-run deficit to outlast St. Johns in 10 innings. In the later game, DeWitt blanked Mason 10-0 in five innings.
Alma High School getting a brand new turf field
SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) - After 74 years of playing on natural grass, Alma High School is changing the surface of Don Miller Field to turf. The football team is expected to be the first to compete on the new field but it’ll be available to soccer, youth programs and the band as well.

Lansing Township firefighter, paramedic identified as one of the victims killed in Clinton County crash
LANSING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - The Lansing Township Fire Department announced one of the victims killed in the deadly Clinton County crash on Saturday was one of their own. 30-year-old John Esch, a Lansing Township firefighter and paramedic, was killed—along with a family member, Daniel Harris—after being struck by a car in Watertown Township on May 18 while they and their family members were walking to a relative’s home. Many of his family members were injured, including his wife.

Woman dead after 3-vehicle crash near Lansing
DEWITT, MI – An 87-year-old Laingsburg woman is dead after a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near Lansing that also injured a child. The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the intersection of Old U.S. 27 and Price Road about 12 miles north of Lansing, according to Michigan State Police.
