Midland Mar 04 Weekly Crime Report
During the last week, Midland reported a total of 45 crime cases. The most prevalent type of crime was 'Suspicious Situation', accounting for 11 instances. This was closely followed by 'Other' crimes, which included miscellaneous criminal offenses and health and safety violations, with 9 reported cases. 'Theft' was the third most common crime, with 8 instances. 'Disturbance' cases were reported 6 times, while 'Burglary' and 'Assault' each had 3 instances. The least common types of crime were 'Arrest', 'Vandalism', and 'Trespass', with 2, 2, and 1 cases respectively. It's notable that although the number of cases is relatively high, the severity of the crimes is generally low, with no major violent crimes reported. This data suggests that while crime is an issue in the place, it's primarily non-violent and often involves suspicious behavior or theft.

Lima, Ohio auctioneer wins Michigan Auctioneer Championship
MOUNT PLEASANT, Michigan – Brad McGovern from Lima, Ohio, won the title of Michigan Auctioneer Champion at the 35th Annual Michigan Auctioneer Championship. The Championship took place on February 2 at the Michigan Auctioneers Association Annual Conference held at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The five finalists in the auctioneer division were Kurt Mingerink (Byron Center, Michigan), Greg Holiday (Belleville, Michigan), Colt Johnson (Clare, Michigan), Brad McGovern (Lima, Ohio) and Brad Stoecker (Dimondale, Michigan). Midland County deputies have spent more than three decades trying to solve a deadly hit-and-run. Gregory McRoberts was killed while riding his bike on Dec. 12, 1991. “Greg had some vehicle issues and had parked his vehicle at a local establishment along M-30 had gone home to make contact with his then fiancée and subsequently took his bicycle back to that establishment to apparently work on the vehicle,” explained Detective Brent Benzing. “Ultimately, between Points A and B, that that is known to the perpetrator and the evidence that we have. But the evidence simply indicates that he was likely struck by a vehicle along the side of Meridian Road and his body then thrown into the ditch,” said Benzing.
