Lackawanna State Park pool opening pushed back by construction
BENTON, Pa. — Sweltering summer days are fast approaching, but those burning for a dip in Lackawanna State Park’s pool will have to cool their heels. The state park in northern Lackawanna County announced Sunday that “unforeseen construction delays” pushed back the William W. Scranton Pool Complex’s opening day, which typically is Memorial Day weekend.

Lower Woods Pond, drained in 2012, being refilled after dam replaced
Lower Woods Pond in Lebanon Township, Wayne County, a popular fishing spot for generations was drained over 10 years ago due to a leaking dam. Finally, with an investment of $2.6 million in state dollars, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) has replaced the dam and began refilling the approximately 91-acre basin.
