PORTLAND (WGME) -- Friday will be the warmest day in a while with high temperatures running in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. It may feel sticky as well. A cold front will bring rain chances to the area on Friday with brighter conditions on the way this weekend.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Showers Return Friday, Much Cooler Weekend Ahead

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Good evening everyone and happy Thursday. We kicked off October on a warm note across northern Maine today, but changes are already beginning to take shape as our next cold front approaches from the west. Clouds will continue to build tonight, with scattered showers developing after midnight before becoming much more widespread Friday morning. Rainfall from this system will be welcome considering the ongoing drought, but totals remain fairly limited. Behind the front, noticeably cooler air settles into the region for the weekend, with another round of frost expected Saturday night into Sunday morning.
