Sikeston man arrested for drugs in Scott County
A Sikeston man was arrested on drug charges in Scott County just before 2 a.m. this morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 48-year-old Craig White was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance for meth, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was taken to the Scott County Jail on a 24 hour hold.

Scott City woman killed in crash
A Scott City woman was killed and two Sikeston children were injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday, May 19 near Benton. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that at 11:50 a.m. on Route E, one mile east of Benton, the westbound vehicle driven by 57-year-old Theresa Wright ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and overturned into a ditch. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Scott Branam and taken to McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston. Her two passengers, ages 3 and 6, received minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Authorities identify second shooting suspect
The Southeast Missourian reports that a second alleged suspect in a Tuesday, May 16, shooting that left two people injured has been identified by authorities. A social media post from the Cape Girardeau Police Department identified the suspect as 22-year-old Markitrey West. He remains at large. A warrant for his arrest has been issued. The warrant includes two felonies, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting arrest. Two people were shot at the Legends apartment complex on North Sprigg Street shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16. The two victims were taken by private vehicle to a local hospital. One victim’s injuries were described as “serious”. Officers pursued two suspects into Illinois. A juvenile suspect was taken into custody at that time. CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO — Police have released the name of the second suspect wanted in connection to a shooting that injured two people in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on Tuesday. The Cape Girardeau Police Department says 22-year-old Markitrey Shemaj West is wanted on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting arrest. The shooting happened at the Legends Apartments on North Sprigg Street in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday.
