Man, 19, killed in State Road 31 crash

BABCOCK RANCH — A teenager was killed in a two vehicle crash on State Road 31 near the Charlotte-Lee county line.

A second driver was serious injured in the crash.

According to a report from Florida Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old Cape Coral man was driving an SUV about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver of the SUV was northbound on State Road 31 while a semi-truck car hauler was southbound.

Both vehicle were near Suzan Drive near Babcock Ranch.

The SUV “traveled into the southbound lane and entered the path of Vehicle 2. The front of Vehicle 1 collided with the front of Vehicle 2,” the FHP report stated.

The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The crash remains under investigation,” the news release stated.
