HEREFORD, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — West Texas A&M University announced that its Alumni Association is set to host the 20th annual Fore County Golf Scramble on Thursday which will help raise scholarship funds for area students.

Officials with WT detailed that the tournament will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday at John Pitman Municipal Golf Course, located at 400 S. Main St. in Hereford, while a dinner will follow at 5 p.m.

The scramble will raise scholarship funds for students in the following Texas Panhandle counties:

    • Castro
    • Deaf Smith
    • Oldham
    • Parmer

“For the past two decades, WT supporters in the western Texas Panhandle have come together to raise scholarship funds for students from their area,” said Ronnie Hall, executive director of the WT Alumni Association. “The number of scholarships we provide each year depends on how much is raised at the scramble. Our goal is always to give as many as we can with as much as we can, as we know every dollar is a step closer to graduating debt-free.”

As a result of the 2023 scramble, officials noted that nine students received $1,000 each in funds.

Further, officials said that sponsorship levels are available and range from $100 to $700. Those interested can find price options here including sponsorships, a mulligan and raffle ticket package, and donation options.
