SPOONER – WIAA Regionals are getting close for area teams. The Spooner Rails in Division 3, Shell Lake Lakers in Division 4 and Northwood/Solon Springs Fusion in Division 5 are all playing hard, good softball as the tournament season begins. SPOONER – There have been changes made in the WIAA Softball Regionals for the Spooner Rails in Division 3, Shell Lake Lakers in Division 4 and Northwood/Solon Springs Fusion in Division 5. Spooner: The Spooner girls will now play Cumberland tonight, Monday, May 20, at 5 p.m. in Spooner. Shell Lake: The Laker softball Regional has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 22, at 5 p.m. The Lakers will host Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at Shell Lake. Northwood/Solon Springs: Northwood/Solon Springs has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 21, at Solon Springs at 5 p.m. against Prentice.
Rice Lake High School names third term outstanding students
Rice Lake High School has announced students who earned the Outstanding Student Achievement Award for the third term as chosen by the faculty. Criteria includes cooperation, effort, attitude, and dedication to discipline. For the 25th year, the Education Foundation of Rice Lake has awarded five grants to public and parochial teachers who are in keeping with its mission "to nurture excellence through private funding of innovative educational programs that aim to inspire kindergarten through high school students and teachers to achieve excellence." SHELL LAKE — Soon, Shell Lake’s Main Street and beach lampposts will be adorned with gorgeous hanging baskets from Yellow River Gardens. Linda Berger has been planting and nurturing the wave and super-petunias since February. Shell Lake’s city crew will hang the baskets around Memorial Day, weather-permitting.
