NEWTON, Kan. (KWCH) - A soon-to-be high school graduate planning to attend one of the nation’s most prestigious colleges next year stands alone among public school students in Kansas as a 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholar. U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced the list of presidential scholars on Friday. Among the list of 161 high school seniors nationwide, Newton’s Anahi Sanchez is one of three from Kansas and two from the Wichita area. Joining her as 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars are Wichita Collegiate’s Ayaaan Parikh and Sharma Paranjay, a soon-to-be graduate of the Barstow School in Leawood.
