CANFIELD Twp., Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a crash that caused serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers were called to U.S. 62 near milepost 7 in Canfield Township around 3 p.m.

OSHP said that a man was driving an International commercial truck and trailer when a woman who was driving a vehicle failed to yield to the truck driver as she pulled out of a driveway. As a result, her car was struck on the left side. Reports said the vehicle rolled several times and went into a culvert on the left side of the roadway. Reports said that the driver of the truck drove off the left side of the roadway into the culvert.

Reports said that the driver of the commercial truck was not injured and that the driver of the vehicle was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with serious injuries. OSHP said that she is now in stable condition. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to reports.

Troopers said that U.S. 62 was closed in both directions briefly but has since reopened.

Troopers said that agencies assisting at the scene were the Canfield Fire Department and EMS, Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. The crash is still under investigation.
