Area fallen officers remembered, emotions still run high in Floyd County
Police Chief, Greg Fugitt, Lawrence County Sheriff, Chuck Jackson, former Lawrence County Sheriff, Bobby Workman and Prestonsburg Police Chief Ross Shurtleff were among other officers in the tri-state area who represented their law enforcement agencies during a memorial ceremony at the Ashland Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #3 on Tuesday, May 7. UNITE to host free ‘Shoot Hoops Not Drugs’ basketball camps with Jarrod Polson; Martin County one of seven locations
This summer, Operation UNITE is hosting seven free regional Shoot Hoops Not Drugs basketball skills camps across southern and eastern Kentucky. The camps, led by former University of Kentucky point guard and four-time All-SEC Academic Team member Jarrod Polson, offer school-aged youth a fun and interactive environment to learn basketball skills while promoting a drug-free lifestyle.

INEZ — Over 300 people came out to enjoy the Kiwanis Club’s annual Hillbilly Breakfast, according to Kiwanis president Melissa Phelps. The May 4 event at Inez Elementary School offered an all-you-can-eat buffet of gravy, biscuits, eggs, sausage, bologna, fried potatoes, fried apples, chocolate gravy and assorted drinks for $6.
