Selinsgrove, Pa. — A man who was found slump over the steering wheel of a vehicle in a Sheetz parking lot quickly came to and fled from police. Woman scammed out of $12,000 in Bitcoin
Montoursville, Pa. — Police say a 65-year-old woman of Eldred Township lost $12,000 after a scammer claimed to be from Apple support. The victim received the call on May 23 from the supposed tech support person from Apple. The victim gave the unknown suspect $12,000 in exchange for Bitcoin, according to Trp. Klinger of state police at Montoursville. Police say there have been various scams lately involving Bitcoin. The public is encouraged to be cautious when exchanging cryptocurrency.
Doctor assaulted at UPMC Williamsport
Williamsport, Pa. — A doctor was injured from blocking a punch by a patient who wanted to leave UMPC Williamsport at the end of May. James Anthony Warner, 67, of Lock Haven told the victim, “I’ll punch you in your f***ing face” when asked to remain at the hospital, according to UMPC Police Officer Derron Farber. Warner’s attempt was stopped by the doctor, Farber added. The victim’s forearm was cut from the block, according to the complaint. Warner is being charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment. Warner is free on $10,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in June. Docket sheet
