'Night of the Living Beauty Pageant'
SHELL LAKE — The Shell Laker High School Theater Department presented the comical “Night of the Living Beauty Pageant,” written by Tim Kelly, this year, on stage at the Erika Quam Memorial Theater. When Steve Bentley, played by Nolan Miller, and Joe Allen, played by Spencer Palmer, get together with dollar signs in their eyes to produce a shady beauty pageant, things get predictably out of hand, with side-splitting results. The hilarious production was directed by Chris Waldron, Shell Lake English teacher. Working on sound was Sree Edula. Lights were produced by Brody Kemp. And Alyxis Richards was stage hand.
Britton elected to Conservation Congress' District Leadership Council
Mike Britton was elected to the District Leadership Council of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress at its ninth annual convention held in Appleton on May 9-11. The UW-Madison Division of Extension offers We Cope, an interactive six-week program that helps adults cope with stress, virtually on Wednesdays, June 5 to July 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It has been shown to reduce stress and depression, increase positive affect and improve health behaviors. District's youngest learn to accomplish tasks with robots
At its meeting Monday, the Rice Lake Board of Education heard a presentation by Brittany Ahlberg and Erin Johnson who shared that 1,091 students in Grades K-5 were introduced to robotics this school year through a grant funded by the Education Foundation of Rice Lake. Ahlberg is the district’s advanced learning coordinator, and Johnson is the technology, integration and communication specialist.
