    Cambridge softball defeated by Marshall

    The Cambridge softball team was defeated 15-0 by Marshall on Friday, May 3 at Cambridge High School.

    Naomi Dahl led the Cardinals with four RBIs, going 3x3 with a double. Carly Checky and Emily Brodbeck each had two RBIs, while Sydney Stuntebeck, Kate Luzenski, Mollie Fritter and Lyliane Browne also drove in a run.

    Cambridge is 4-7 and 2-4 in conference play.

    Cambridge 17, Belleville 3

    In the circle and in the batter’s box, Cambridge senior Saveea Freeland enjoyed a strong day against Belleville.

    Freeland went 3x3 with five RBIs and also pitched a complete game in a Cambridge softball 17-3 win over Belleville on Tuesday at Belleville High School.

    Freeland drove in senior Julia Schneider on a sacrifice flyout in the top of the first inning and scored junior Brooke Stenklyft and sophomore Finley Tuscic on a two-run single in the third. In the fourth, Freeland scored Stenklyft twice on separate RBI singles.

    Along with Freeland’s five RBIs, freshman Taylor Berg drove in junior Megan Bernhardt and sophomore Marissa Schneider on a two-run double in the fifth.

    Freshman Kimmy Roidt, Schneider, and sophomore Malina Schneider each recorded an RBI.

    In the circle, Freeland pitched five innings, allowing three hits and three runs (two earned). Freeland recorded a strikeout and issued two walks.
