CAMBRIDGE – The Bayside Conference North Track and Field Championships were held on Thursday at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, and the men’s home team came away with the win. The Vikings scored 188 points, with second-place Kent Island totaling 121.

Once again, the Vikes’ depth paid off, with athletes grabbing points throughout the first-through-eighth place scoring range.

Head Coach Clint Falduto said, “We did our job,” noting that some of his top-scoring men were rested during the meet, with only one event instead of their usual three or four.

In a track and field meet with eight or more teams, events are scored down to eighth place, with points awarded being 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. There are 18 events in Bayside Conference spring competition, with 12 on the track, four jumps and two throws.

Each athlete is eligible to compete in up to four events per meet. Next season, Maryland will follow other states in allowing each athlete to compete in up to six events per meet.

The remaining men’s teams and their scores were: Kent County, 115; North Dorchester, 83; Colonel Richardson, 70; Easton, 67; North Caroline, 24; and Queen Anne’s County, 20.

Kent Island’s women brought home top honors, after racking up 160 points, followed by North Caroline with 145 and C-SD with 75.

The remaining women’s teams and their scores were: Colonel Richardson, 72; Easton, 61; Queen Anne’s County, 56; Kent County, 52; and North Dorchester, 22.

North Dorchester’s men made a strong showing, with Vernon Price setting a school record in high jump with his first-place effort of 6’ 6”. He was closely followed by fellow Eagle Jamar Williams, who secured second place by clearing 6’ 4”.

Remaining results for North Dorchester men and women were:
