Michigan Tech hockey unveils the 2024-25 schedule
HOUGHTON, Mich. (WJMN) – The Michigan Tech hockey program announced its 2024-25 schedule on Tuesday, May 7 in conjunction with the CCHA unveiling its composite schedule. The Huskies have 34 regular-season games that include 24 CCHA games, 14 contests at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena, and 10 non-conference meetings.
Houghton Will Address Recycling in the Downtown Sector
Houghton has begun considering ways to bring recycling back to downtown. A year after the city switched to larger trash bins and modern Waste Management trucks, city manager Eric Waara says that downtown looks much better on pick-up day. The city wants to consider three options to solve recycling in the downtown area; a similar system to the old one that used carts and bins, setting up a drop-off site at the DPW garage, or strategically located recycling dumpsters around the sector.

White Oasis foster group home holds ribbon cutting, to open May 13
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - A brand-new senior living facility held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Friday afternoon but is not open quite yet. White Oasis is a Michigan state-licensed foster care group home located in Franklin Township. Six seniors over 70 years old will be able to live there. Private bedrooms, kitchen and living room are some of its features. 24-hour supervision by RN and staff are also included. There are also regularly scheduled meals, planned activities such as games and laundry services.
