The Warriors baseball squad won three games last week, including a matchup against Rochester Lourdes by a score of 5-1, and a doubleheader against the La Crescent Lancers at 3-0 and 9-2.

    Against Randolph

Reid Klug took the mound for the matchup against Rochester Lourdes, and had quite a day. Klug would end up going 6⅔ innings, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out six in the outing.

Lourdes would go on to score first in the third inning, with a run off of a wild pitch, but would score no longer for the rest of the game. The scoring for the Warriors came in the 5th inning where the boys scored five runs to take the lead 5-1. A surplus of walks that inning allowed runners to get into scoring position and driven in for the lead.

Reid Klug also led the hitting for the Warriors, going 3 for 3, followed by Hunter Goetzinger who went 2 for 3, and Owen Denstad going 1 for 4. Landon O’Heron closed out the game for the last out, and the Warriors earned the victory over a tough Rochester Lourdes team.

    Against La Crescent-Hokah

After a reschedule due to excessive rain showers on Thursday, May 2, Caledonia headed to La Crescent-Hokah for a doubleheader Friday, May 3.

In the first matchup, Landon O’Heron took to the rubber for the Warriors and also had a very strong day against the Lancers. O’Heron went all seven innings, allowing only two hits, and striking out seven in the shutout.

The fourth inning held the only scoring needed for the game one win, as the Warriors scored three. Drew Yahnke hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one, and another two came off of a throwing error on the play.

Garret Konz and Hunter Goetzinger both went 1 for 3 as Caledonia's leading hitters in the first matchup.

The second matchup saw Garret Konz take the mound, going six innings, allowing two runs on four hits, and striking out 10. Will Allen closed out the game in the seventh, striking out one.

The Warriors scored runs in all innings except for the second and the fourth. After the continued shelling, the Warriors won 9-2 in seven innings.

With 11 total hits, Caledonia's leading batters in the second game included Hunter Goetzinger going 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Ben Stemper going 2 for 5, Will Allen going 2 for 4, and finally Owen Denstad going 1 for 4 with three RBIs.

Next up for the Warriors is a showdown in Chatfield against the Gophers on Tuesday, May 7.
