UAB offers free colonoscopies for people with low-incomes
Patients with low-incomes in Jefferson County can get free screenings for colorectal cancer at UAB through September of 2024. The effort is the result of a state grant from the Alabama Department of Public Health which awarded $120,000 to two professors at the school who are working to screen for cancer and reduce health disparities in colorectal cancer. The effort is focused on low-income and underinsured residents who are patients of federally qualified health centers.
