We hope you were able to catch it– we had a truly exciting boys’ high school basketball game for you late in the regular season last night, as Oldenburg Academy and South Decatur traded graceful moves and brilliant shotmaking to thrill the crowd in the OA gym. Oldenburg led by 1 after a quarter, South Decatur was up 5 at the half. It remained tight throughout the 3rd quarter, then at the end one squad pulled ahead to stay, but the other had multiple opportunities to get closer or go ahead. The game had everything, and next week’s sectional draws could allow for a rematch. After staying close until the final couple minutes, the Twisters pulled slightly away, nailing down the win by 8 points, 62-54. That, despite 31 points from the Cougars’ Jacob Scruggs, as OA’s Connor Miles put in 21, Henry Wanstrath 15, and Jacob Cornelius 10. The win put Oldenburg above .500 on the season, with its 11th win versus 10 losses, a regular-season finale against Lawrenceburg coming up Friday.
