BUTLER ― Numerous fire departments battled a barn fire at 241 Grant St. that filled the village with a lot of smoke Monday afternoon.

No one was injured and the barn did not contain animals, but did contain farm equipment and supplies, according to the barn's owner Mary Ellen Gillson. Firewood was not in the barn.

According to a Facebook post from the mayor's office in Butler, "Residents in the area may see discoloration of their water due to the large volume of water consumed to extinguish the fire. Similar to when our hydrants have been flushed. No boil advisory."

The fire broke out before 3 p.m.

Agencies assisting Worthington Township Fire Department at the scene included Lucas/Monroe, Perrysville, Jefferson and Fredericktown township fire departments.
