Semi hauling 25,000 pounds of clothes overturns on I-75
A tractor trailer truck hauling 25,000 pounds of clothes overturned on Interstate 75 in Sumter County. The semi was northbound near Mile Marker 321 at 11:13 a.m. Tuesday when a 34-year-old Kissimmee man driving a Hyundai Palisade, which was also northbound, lost control of the vehicle, departed the roadway and collided with a guardrail along the inside shoulder of the highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. When the vehicle returned to the roadway, it traveled into the path of the semi.

A suspected thief was arrested after returning to the scene of the crime at Family Dollar in Wildwood. Brittany Nicole Pea, 38, of Wildwood, tried to switch the pricetag on a pair of pants before checking out at about 10 a.m. Tuesday at the store at 400 Main Street, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

An 81-year-old Villager has penned a letter of apology and made restitution, allowing her to escape prosecution in a theft case. LEESBURG, Florida — A Leesburg man was arrested following a burglary complaint involving a shed on July 8, 2024. A Lake County deputy responded to a Leesburg residence after the victim reported witnessing a male burglarizing their shed and removing property, according to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
