Weekly Safety Report: Drug and Gun Charges, Head-On Collision in Harlan County, Kentucky
Two incidents occurred in Harlan County, Kentucky this week. In the first incident, two men were arrested for drug and gun charges after being found in possession of methamphetamine and a handgun. The arrest was made during a drug trafficking investigation. In the second incident, a head-on collision took place on Interstate 77 resulting in minor injuries. The crash occurred when a southbound pickup truck crossed the median and struck a northbound semi-truck. No serious injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Weekly Safety Report: Inmate's Bribery Attempt and Denial of Addiction Medications at Paintsville, Kentucky
Two incidents occurred in Paintsville, Kentucky this week. In the first incident, an inmate attempted to bribe a guard at the Floyd County Detention Center with $20 in exchange for a cigarette. The guard reported the incident, resulting in the inmate being charged with bribery of a public servant. In the second incident, the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center was investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice for denying addiction medications to inmates. As a result, the detention center has agreed to end policies that prevented inmates from obtaining prescriptions for medication-assisted drug treatment programs.
