Drummond bridge project begins on US 63
Construction began July 13 on a $4.59 million project to replace a deteriorating box culvert and dam structure carrying the Long Lake branch under US 63 in Drummond, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Gov. Tony Evers signed the contract with prime contractor Northern Interstate Construction Inc. of Superior for the multiyear project, which will remove the structure, built in 1931, and replace it with a bridge, the agency said. Work this year includes drawing down Mill Pond, realigning the Long Lake branch, and building a single-lane bypass for use during 2027 construction, according to WisDOT. Next year's work includes removing the culvert and dam, building the new bridge, taking out the temporary bypass, and installing new pavement markings. US 63 will remain open through most of this year's construction season, though drivers will encounter a single lane controlled by temporary traffic signals from mid-July to at least mid-September, the agency said. Installing a temporary culvert pipe will close the highway for up to seven days, with traffic detoured via County N, County A, US 2, and US 63. This year's work is scheduled to wrap up in late fall before resuming in spring 2027. Project updates are available

Northbound I-35 Ramp To Superior St. Closes
