Memorial Day Weekend Weather: It won't be a washout, but we'll be dodging rain for the holiday Monday

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It's back to dodging rain showers Memorial Day Monday after a spectacular Sunday during the long holiday weekend.

While the majority of Memorial Day will be rain free, a relatively deep storm system moving out of Lower Michigan will push a pair of frontal systems through our area that will result in several rounds of showers and drenching thunderstorms. Some storms may have the potential to generate damaging wind gusts, mainly across the Finger Lakes and Eastern Lake Ontario regions.

While breaks of sun will be possible for some areas Monday, we can anticipate a fair amount of cloud cover with noticeably higher humidity.

The unsettled weather will persist into mid week, while there is high confidence that it will become progressively cooler.

Tuesday will be characterized by brisk winds, cooler and less humid conditions. Temperatures on Tuesday will only climb into the 60s to near 70, which will be just shy of normal values while westerly winds will gust to 30 to 35 mph at times.

Wednesday, showers will linger across the area with temperatures only in the mid 50's to upper 60's.
