Inside Monument Health’s New East Side Emergency Room
There’s a brand new emergency room sitting on East Mall Drive in Rapid City, and if you’ve driven past the construction over the past year, you’ve probably wondered what’s actually inside. I got a chance to walk through it with Dr. Brook Eide, who’s been an ER physician at Monument Health for sixteen years. The place still smells like new car. There were boxes everywhere, plastic on the screens, floor mats with “detail” written across them. Dr. Eide’s flip flops were apparently in one of those boxes too, location unknown. And it’s almost ready to open its doors.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Black Hills Life Flight is celebrating 20 years of providing emergency air medical service across western South Dakota and the surrounding region. The anniversary event was held at the Rapid City Elks Golf Course, bringing together past and present crew members from the program’s Rapid City rotor-wing and fixed-wing bases, along with the helicopter base in Hot Springs. Special speakers also joined the gathering to recognize the role the crews play in getting critical patients to care quickly.
