Mobile City Council close to hiring Special Counsel
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A vote could come as soon as next Tuesday on the hiring of a Special Counsel to investigate allegations made by former Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine. Councilman Ben Reynolds told other councilors that they have received the conflict-of-interest information from one firm and are waiting on that information from the other. The conflict information is meant to ensure that the hired firm is free from any possible, or perceived, influence from previous relationships.
Small plane crashes in south Alabama
Officials in Citronelle are investigating the crash of a small plane. According to a Facebook post from Citronelle Fire and Rescue, the plane crashed around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Prine Road and Sixth Street. A patient, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital by Mobile County EMS.
Mobile man killed in motorcycle accident on Old Pascagoula Rd.
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — According to ALEA, a two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, has claimed the life of a Mobile man. Charles Deric Wilkins Schmidt, 36, was fatally injured when the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle he was operating was struck by the 2012 Hyundai Veloster driven by Stacie Diane Miller, 50, of Mobile. Schmidt was pronounced deceased at the scene.
