Gholston is the recipient of the AKA Book Scholarship, a $32,000 scholarship from the University of Alabama, $12,000 scholarship from the University of South Alabama and $20,000 scholarship from Alabama A&M University. Gholston plans to attend the University of Alabama, where she intends to become a postpartum nurse.

“I want to be able to support mothers and babies,” Gholston said. “After working as a postpartum nurse for years, I want to get a Master’s of Nursing Degree, so I can work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to help sick babies.”
