Evergreen softball girls get big shutout win over Bruce

MINONG — In a Lakeland East Conference battle at Minong on Thursday, April 25, Northwood/Solon Springs overpowered the Bruce Red Raiders in a 13-0 shutout.

Raya Johnston, Izzy Golembiewski and Audrey Swanson each had 3 RBIs. Zoey Wilson, Lily Borst and Kailynn Blegan each had 2 RBIs. Getting a single RBI was Maddie Jacobs.

Stolen bases came from Borst (3), Emily Adrihan (3), Chloe Davey (2), and Swanson (2).

Wilson was the winning pitcher, going 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 0 runs and striking out 2. Borst pitched 2 innings, allowing 0 hits, 0 runs and striking out 6.

Currently, NWSS holds a 5-2 record. On Thursday, May 2, the Evergreens will travel to Cornell/Lake Holcombe for a 5 p.m. game. On Friday, May 3, they play at Mellen at 5 p.m.
