Van Wert Police Department: AT&T services restored following outage that affected 911 calls
(WPTA) - Officers with the Van Wert Police Department warned residents that an issue with AT&T Wireless was impacting some customers’ ability to call 911 on Monday. The police department shared on Facebook that AT&T reported that the company was having issues connecting to 911 services nationwide. They encouraged those experiencing issues calling 911 to attempt texting 911 for help.
Defiance Area Foundation Grant: Sufficient Grace Ministries
We would like to congratulate @sufficientgraceministries on their $5,000 grant received during our last grant cycle, ending in March. This grant was given from the Defiance Area Foundation Community fund for training manuals, supplies, and materials to be used during the SGM Volunteer Training. Family fun at the library featuring a popular Australian Blue Heeler
This week, and going forward every week of the summer, the Putnam County District Library is holding multiple family fun programs throughout the county. At both Columbus Grove and Pandora library branches, the PCDL hosted a “Blue Friend Adventures Party!” that featured the fan-favorite Australian Blue Heeler, Bluey, and multiple fun activities. The well-attended event was sponsored by The Friends of the PCDL and Blanchard Valley Health System.
Defiance County grand jury returns indictments against 12 defendants
A Defiance County grand jury has returned indictments against 12 persons, according to Prosecutor Morris Murray’s office. Indicted were: • Christopher Davis, 33, 534 Degler St., for 10 counts of rape, each a first-degree felony. Authorities allege that from Jan. 1-Aug. 31, 2021, he engaged in sexual conduct with a female juvenile under the age of 13 on multiple occasions. ...
Paulding County Municipal Court 6-6-24
Brandon Moser, 22, Bryan, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony and theft, a fourth-degree felony, and the case was bound over to Paulding County Common Pleas Court. Sentenced: Giovanni Mercado Nieves, Paulding, speed, $45 fine; driving under suspension, dismissed. Dismissed: Jason Friend, 38, Antwerp, theft (two counts); Bethany Friend, 38, Antwerp, theft (two counts); William Ramseyer, 19, Ossian, Ind., possession of marijuana; Andrew Plumley, 19, Portland, Ind., possession of marijuana.
Learning about robots and engineering
VAN WERT — Several dozen children crowded a room at The Brumback Library Tuesday afternoon to learn more about the Van Wert Robotics program. Nellie Schmidt, director of The Brumback Library, said she was responsible for coordinating this summer’s events for the children. She praised the assistance provided by the children’s librarian who has planned the program in the past who provided recommendations.
Local talent on display
VAN WERT—An important part of the Peony Festival is its showcasing of local talent, and there was plenty on display this past weekend. Kim Hohman’s Danceworks performed on South Jefferson Street from 5-6 p.m. Friday evening. There were 17 individual numbers, and dozens of kids aged 5-18 performed street dances for the crowd—including acrobatics like back-flips.
Four Flags of Freedom Ceremony to be held on Flag Day
First of 4 Mega Flags to be Raised to Pay Tribute to Veterans. Defiance, OH- Defiance County Economic Development is hosting a special ceremony to commemorate the first flag being raised of their Four Flags of Freedom Campaign. Nearly two years ago, Defiance County Economic Development’s Board decided to raise funds to establish the placement of Four Mega American Flags (30 x 60) to be placed along US 24 in Defiance County.
