Woman steps off MTA bus in Brooklyn and is quickly struck by another, leaving her in critical condition

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a Brooklyn bus just after stepping off of another, according to the NYPD.

At about 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, a 24-year-old woman got off of an MTA bus at the intersection of Livingston Street and Nevins Street in Boerum Hill, where there is a two-way bus lane.

Police said that after the victim exited the bus, she crossed in front of it and began crossing the street when she was struck by a separate, oncoming B41 bus moving in the opposite direction.

The woman was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Both Livingston and Nevins streets are closed while police investigate. NYPD officers and members of the Highway Patrol were on the scene taking measurements, photos and trying find out if the incident was caught on camera.

"The incident is under internal investigation by the MTA," the MTA said. The agency did not provide further comment.
