Gag City just wanna have fun! During Nicki Minaj’s homecoming show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Wednesday, the Pink Friday 2 rapper welcomed Cyndi Lauper onstage to perform her “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”-sampling track “Pink Friday Girls.”

One video captured Minaj pulling in Lauper for a tight hug and bowing to her before telling the crowd, “I have been speaking about this woman in my interviews since I first began rapping. I never in a million years thought I’d be back rapping in New York with Cyndi Lauper.”

Minaj started rapping to her song as Lauper took the stage to take turns singing the chorus to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” as it repeats in “Pink Friday Girls.”

After the performance, Minaj and Lauper shared a tight hug as Minaj said, “I remember crying to,” before singing lyrics to “True Colors.” Lauper then sang a snippet of the track song acapella with Minaj as the two embraced for another hug. “God bless her. Don’t wait until we’re not here to give ourselves flowers. God bless this woman,” she said.

New York City also got two other surprise guests as social media star Kai Cenat and Pepa of Salt-N-Pepa made appearances as well. The night prior, in Toronto, Minaj welcomed Drake onstage for two songs.

Minaj has been a huge fan of Lauper through the years. In one tweet from 2009 , Minaj wrote, “Cyndi Lauper made my 3 fave songs of all time. True colors, time after time and girlz jus wanna have fun. Genius.”

Back in 2010, Minaj also joined Katy Perry during VH1’s Divas Salute the Troops for an iconic duet of the Eighties classic. And in 2011, the two met during a Grammys red carpet . “People don’t know how obsessed I am with you,” Minaj told her.
