NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Bronx detectives are searching for a man who early Friday morning hopped out of a moving car when he got into a fight with his taxi driver, then proceeded to fire off shots at the vehicle.

The NYPD on Saturday night released a photo of the gunslinger wanted for attempted assault, who had been picked up just before 4 a.m. on Friday by a 26-year-old taxi driver.

Police said that the men were driving near Bronx Boulevard and Carpenter Avenue in Olinville when they became engaged in a dispute.

During the altercation, the suspect jumped out of the moving vehicle and shot a gun at the cab, hitting the passenger door.

The cabbie was uninjured, and the gunman ran off in an unknown direction.

Police described the suspect as between 19 and 25 years of age with a slim build, and he was last seen wearing a black vest and black jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
