NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – One man was killed and three others were injured Tuesday evening when they were shot by masked gunmen on mopeds in a drive-by shooting in the Bronx.

Multiple shots were fired around 6:15 p.m. at East Mount Eden Avenue and Townsend Avenue in the Mount Eden section.

The four victims were standing on the southwest corner of the intersection when two mopeds rode past, each with one driver and one passenger.

The two passengers both pulled firearms and fired 10 rounds at the men on the street, police said.

A 29-year-old man was struck in the chest, while three other men—ages 37, 31 and 23—each suffered gunshot wounds to a leg.

The 29-year-old, later identified as Miguel Doleo, of the Bronx, was pronounced dead at the BronxCare Health System hospital.

The other three men were expected to survive.

The shooters fled on the mopeds northbound on Townsend Avenue towards the Cross-Bronx Expressway, police said.

One male was taken into custody Wednesday, though it was unclear if he was involved in the shooting, police said. No other arrests have been reported.

The NYPD is investigating a potential motive for the shooting and any possible gang ties.

Kaz Daughtry, the NYPD’s deputy commissioner of operations, said 9,500 illegal scooters, dirt bikes and ATVs have been taken off city streets since Jan. 1 of this year, including 2,500 of them in the Bronx.

“1,300 arrests involving individuals that committed crimes on scooters that this department has made arrests on,” Daughtry said.
