Bridgewater Police Reporting Multiple Car Burglaries in Bradley Gardens Area

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police have reported that between the evening of April 26 into the morning of April 27, multiple vehicles in the Bradley Gardens section of town were broken into and ransacked.

In addition, Raritan Borough Police also reported multiple burglaries to motor vehicles in the same time frame.

Police said all the vehicles that were broken into were left unlocked.

In a post on Facebook, Bridgewater police said the criminals that are ransacking vehicles are looking for a quick and quiet opportunity, because they are not looking to smash a window and draw unnecessary attention. The criminals are looking for an unlocked door.

Police are advising residents to lock all windows and doors to both vehicles and homes, and to practice effective home security measures.

Police are advising additional measures to protect from burglaries:

• Lock all doors and windows, even if you plan on being inside for a short time.
• Do not leave a key fob inside the vehicle.
• Do not leave valuables in plain sight, including handbags, briefcases, computers and branded shopping bags from recent purchases. Conceal them in the trunk of the vehicle or bring them inside.
• Keep outside lights on to deter nefarious activity, and motion sensor lights above a doorway are a great investment.
• If you see or hear something, call police right away so they can respond to the area with the goal of apprehending a suspect still on location.
