Steelers, Saint Vincent College looking for training camp employees
LATROBE (KDKA) - The weather is getting warmer, the sun is shining a little longer, and that can only mean one thing - Steelers Training Camp is just a couple of months away. Next week, a hiring event is set to take place at the Fred M. Rogers Center on Saint Vincent College's campus from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 8 for those interested in working at Steelers Training Camp. All of the positions are part-time and temporary. Steelers Training Camp dates have not yet been solidified but it is expected to go from mid-July through August and shift times as well as responsibilities will be discussed during the interviews. All applicants must be 18, complete a background check, and have reliable transportation to and from Saint Vincent College. Once hired, employees will be required to work rain or shine and wear a uniform that includes a Steelers Training Camp shirt which will be provided, khakis or black pants, and flat closed-toe shoes. Several top teams losing one or two games this past week caused a shuffling of the deck in the baseball rankings with Montour and Shaler falling out for now while Pine-Richland and West Mifflin return.
Pittsburgh Pirates need help naming new team dog
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have a new team dog, and the organization is asking for help naming the new pup.The Pirates have again teamed up with Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs to introduce 2024's team dog. Now, the organization needs your help in finding a name for him. The four options are Rookie, Bandit, Homer and Slugger.Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, which is building a training facility in Western Pennsylvania, will train the pup to pair with a military veteran in need. "Fans can expect to see the furry future service dog at Pirates games and community events, including the Mental Health Action Game May 3," the team said in a news release on Tuesday. "The engagement with fans will expose the pup to the socialization needed to become a service dog."Voting is open through May 4, and the winning name will be announced on May 6, the team announced. Last year's team dog, Bucco, was paired with a local veteran in September 2023. He was the team's first Pirate Pup. Bucco was selected by the fans over Homer, Rookie and Jolly.
Preparations underway for 2024 Pittsburgh Marathon

Bethel Park lacrosse goalie sets new school record with 100 saves in a season
BETHEL PARK, Pa. (KDKA) -- A lacrosse goalie at Bethel Park High School has set a new school record for saves and she's just a freshman! Pippa King is 14-years-old and is the starting goalie for the Bethel Park girls varsity lacrosse team and on Tuesday night, she made school history. During the team's 15-8 win against Seneca Valley, King made 11 saves, which helped her reach the 100-save mark on the season, an achievement that has never been reached in Bethel Park school history!After the game, King was presented with a commemorative ball with "100" written on it to celebrate her feat!With the win against Seneca Valley, Bethel Park improves to an overall record of 5-7 this season.
