West Virginia gas prices ‘skyrocket’, AAA says

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Gas prices in northern West Virginia “skyrocketed” last week by 15 cents to an average of $3.61 per gallon, according to AAA.

In a press release, AAA said the national average was $3.63, which was an increase of four cents from last week. Oil prices have only experienced “minor fluctuations” week over week, according to AAA, with prices a few dollars cheaper this week.

Locally, prices in Bridgeport are averaging $3.61 per gallon of regular gas, $3.59 in Clarksburg and $3.67 in Morgantown.

Nationally, gas prices are averaging $3.63 per gallon of regular gas.

As of the latest available Energy Information Administration data , on April 5, 2024, the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve’s levels were at 364,236 barrels after seeing a low of 346,758 barrels in July 2023, which had previously not been seen since August 1983.
