A Brewer grocery store will close for three days next week while a change in ownership takes place, but the store’s name, prices and merchandise won’t change.

Dawn Daigle, co-owner of Paradis Shop ’n Save in Brewer, will take over ownership of the grocery store with her husband from her 10 other partners on Monday.

The grocery store will close at 3 p.m. Monday and reopen at 7 a.m. April 26 so it can be cleaned and have its shelves reset, Daigle said.

The store’s name, merchandise, 40 employees and prices will remain the same after the ownership shift, Daigle said.

“It’s still going to remain the same family-oriented hometown grocer as we’ve always been,” Daigle said. “As sad as it was to close up shop in Fort Kent, this is exciting for me to carry on the family legacy.”

The ownership change comes on the heels of Hannaford purchasing the business’ other locations in Fort Kent and Madawaska. The Brewer store is the business’ last location.

Daigle is a third generation owner of the Paradis Shop n’ Save company, which once boasted six locations across Maine with stores in Caribou, Calais and Houlton, she said.
