Traverse City Beer Week features brewery fundraisers and visitor rewards
TRAVERSE CITY — Beer Week activities are underway across Northern Michigan, offering opportunities to try craft beers and support regional businesses through Nov. 14. The event celebrates the individuals and businesses driving the local craft beer industry. Beyond venue discounts, the week features charitable fundraising and incentives for visitors exploring local taprooms and breweries. Matt Cozzens, co-owner of 7 Monks Taproom, has participated in Beer Week for over a decade and noted how the local industry has grown. “It’s changed,” Cozzens said. “There’s been more breweries. When I think Traverse City, more quality breweries, different regions can open up breweries and just say they have a brew. We have some really good brew masters in town. And I think people really realize that.” Cozzens noted that the event encourages community members to explore downtown establishments. “It gives everybody an opportunity to check out a variety of different places downtown,” Cozzens said. “Whether there’s breweries or taprooms like us. You can come down and check out what everybody’s offering. There’s discounts throughout the week.” Festivities include a charity event titled “Breweries versus Frostbite” on Thursday night, featuring seven participating breweries to support Project Feed the Kids.
