National Weather Service conducts storm survey
WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Following Sunday’s severe weather, the National Weather Service in Jackson conducted a storm survey in the Cumberland Valley area. “Anytime we have reports of damage, especially if it’s possibly tornadic in nature, the way we can confirm that and figure out what the windspeeds were and what the size and path of that tornado or straight line winds were is by sending a weather service team down,” Warning Coordination Meteorologist Jane Marie Wix said.
Pedestrian killed on rural road in Franklin County
A Mercersburg man was struck by a vehicle and killed while walking on a rural road in Franklin County on Thursday evening, according to Pennsylvania State Police. John Stottlemeyer, 77, was facing traffic while walking in the northbound lane of Lemar Road, Peters Township, at about 9:12 p.m. when he was hit by a GMC Sierra pick-up truck.
