    Woman sentenced for embezzling from Brandon High band booster funds

    BRANDON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The Rankin County woman who pled guilty to embezzling from the Brandon High School band booster funds has been sentenced.

    According to court documents, Donna Gladney Floyd, of Pearl, was sentenced to 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) with 15 years suspended. She will serve five years in prison followed by five years of probation.

    Floyd was also ordered to pay court costs in the amount of $1,441.50, restitution in the amount of $42,105.84, a District Attorney investigative fee in the amount of $500, a Brandon Police Department investigative fee in the amount of $500.

    Floyd was scheduled to go to trial on April 29, 2024, after she was indicted. She pled guilty on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

    Rankin County deputies arrested Floyd on May 22, 2023. Investigators said the case was first brought to their attention by the Rankin County School District and Brandon High School officials.

    According to Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett, Floyd embezzled $45,000 from the Brandon High School band booster funds.
