Coroner identifies Summerville man killed in shooting at apartment complex
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - The Dorchester County Coroner has identified the victim of a deadly shooting that happened Friday night in Summerville. Jordan Avery, 21, was found shot to death at the scene of the incident, Coroner Paul Brouthers said. Avery was scheduled to undergo an autopsy at MUSC on Monday morning.

Carnell Cooper, MD, has been named chief medical officer of MUSC Health Orangeburg (S.C.) Dr. Carnell has served as CMO at several major healthcare institutions. He joins Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Health from Virginia Reston Hospital Center, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, where he has served as CMO since August 2022.
