Golfers scramble to support Turning Point
As golf balls sailed through the air on Sunday, April 28, golfers hit their drives secure in the knowledge that their play helped support local charity work. Turning Point, a non-profit that helps the homeless and near-homeless in the Wareham area, held its annual golf tournament at Bay Pointe Golf Club. Approximately 70 golfers got together for the tournament, playing in a scramble format, with teammates all hitting the ball from the same spot and selecting the best ball hit to play from.
New Bedford High softball coach captures 600th career win over his 40 seasons
NEW BEDFORD — As longtime New Bedford High coach Harry Lowe became the first SouthCoast softball coach to record 600 career wins, he focused on what Monday’s 10-4 victory over Bridgewater-Raynham meant for his players. “This win was bigger for my team today than it was for me as an individual,” said Lowe, who now has a career win-loss record of 600-259 in 40 seasons. “We needed this win.
