Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team have been chosen for a rare occasion, as NBC will broadcast the program's first nationally televised game of the upcoming season on Sept 7, marking a historical day for the network.

NBC announced that the Buffaloes will face Nebraska under the lights of Memorial Stadium for the first time in their historic rivalry. The broadcast also marks the first time since 1965 that NBC has produced a game from the famous venue. Nebraska is projected to struggle again in the Big Ten next year, while Colorado will try to make the most of its move to the Big 12.

Colorado and Nebraska serve as a thrilling early-season clash between two formidable teams, aiming to be an exciting rematch following Colorado's 36-14 win over Nebraska last year. At that point, the Buffaloes were riding wave into the top-25 rankings that crashed back down once conference competition began.

Under the direction of ex-NFL head coach Matt Rhule, the Cornhuskers aim for significant improvement in year 2 of his tenure. They finished with a 3–6 record in the Big Ten last season, fourth in the West.

Coach Prime' s leadership has been transformative for the Buffaloes. His dynamic approach has not only drawn national attention and the media spotlight but has also revitalized Colorado's football program, making them a force to be recognized in college football., regardless of winning or losing.

Both teams will be looking to make a statement early in the season, especially with the Buffaloes having to overhaul their roster. Under Coach Sanders, the team has received 41 transfers to date, including a crop of three-star defenders, which addressed last season's heavily criticized defense . Colorado's biggest need was retooling the offensive line, and they addressed that by landing five-star 2024 signee Jordan Seaton .

The Buffaloes have also dealt with several blows to the roster, starting with standout recruit Cormani McClain , ranked as the No. 13 overall player and the No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2023, per the 247Sports Composite. McClain was initially committed to Miami but switched to Colorado weeks after Sanders took the Colorado job.

But, McClain later left the program and took a jab at Coach Prime, stating he wasn't interested in playing for clicks and media attention despite the team's lack of wins. The high level of turnover and the influx of new talent under Sanders has made Colorado one of the most talked-about programs in college football.
