The weather in Boston and beyond is forever changing. For many, the unofficial statewide weather motto might go something like this: “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.” This week is a testament to that statement, with summer-like temperatures descending on the region in the lead-up to Memorial Day weekend.

Temperatures climbed into the low 80s on Tuesday in Greater Boston and into the mid-80s Wednesday. Parts of the interior Northeast could even see 90 degrees on the thermometer.

The arrival of warmer weather is often eagerly awaited and welcomed by Bostonians, who are keen to leave the long winter months behind.

So we’ve rounded up a few fun ideas to enjoy the warm weather this week — whether you prefer to venture outside or stay indoors with air conditioning.

    Enjoy dinner al fresco 🍽️

Take dinner with a view to the next level by heading to one of the city’s many patios for outdoor dining.

    Treat yourself to ice cream🍦

Cool off with this classic dessert at a top reader-recommended ice cream shop in Greater Boston, Somerville and Cambridge, or Cape Cod.

Go for a walk outside 🌳

Bask in the beauty of nature and enjoy flowering plants and leafy trees at a reader-recommended park or green space.

    Hit the beach 🏖️

Visit one of the beautiful beaches Massachusetts has to offer from the North Shore to Cape Cod. It’s easier than ever this year thanks to a chauffeur company’s new “city-to-beach” service.

    Catch a new movie 🍿

Stop by one of readers’ favorite movie theaters in Boston to see some of the upcoming summer releases, such as “Despicable Me 4” or “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” or stay inside your air-conditioned palace and catch the latest releases to streaming, such as “Bridgerton” on Netflix or “Doctor Who” on Max.

Go to a cool event this weekend 🎟️

Your weekend plans are waiting for you with the New England’s #1 music festival, Boston Calling, whale watching, artisan markets, and more in our BosTen weekly guide.
